How much land is required?
A typical turbine will require between half and three quarter of an acre of land (approx 2500m2). This includes the turbine concrete foundation and a hard standing that is used by cranes to lift the turbine components into place. Infinergy will assess the existing land use and ensure this and it's development is compatible; for instance farming activities are able to continue in operation alongside the wind farm.
Straight access tracks from the nearest public highway to the turbine will be approximately 5m (16ft) wide. Where practical, these tracks may be used by the landowner.
Where the scheme is larger a substation connecting all the turbines into one central point will be built and this will take up approximately the same area as the turbine. For Feed-in Tariff schemes the substation will be incorporated into the turbine site.
